Royal Mail plans to add a "delivered by Royal Mail" logo
to all letters from mid September 2011 have suffered a major setback
as a result of some intense lobbying and generally adverse reactions from
within the direct marketing community.
Mediascene was particularly opposed to the implementation of the plans as there had been no prior consultation and implementation date was in the very near future. The implication for a number of our clients would have been that the large envelope stocks we hold for them would not have complied with the new specification. We received a number of emails from our clients expressing concerns about the proposal.
As a result of the furore that met their announcement, Royal Mail have been forced to back track and announced on Tuesday 26th July that they have had a change of heart and deferred the introduction of the new logo for the foreseeable future.
Good news I think you'll agree. Hopefully in future Royal Mail
will consult much more widely before imposing any
further changes.
